Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News Update
In this edition of the update, we have news of recent guidance documents on Foundation Learning, and information on the LSIS Foundation Learning Support Programme. You'll also find information on a series of Functional Skills countdown events being held across the country from September to November.

Free five-day course for teacher educators
If you would like to build your confidence as a teacher trainer and would like an opportunity to reflect on and update your practice, or if you are an experienced ESOL, Literacy or Numeracy teacher who is thinking of becoming a teacher trainer, then this course is for you. Functional skills countdown events
Are you involved in delivering functional skills qualifications during 2009-10? QCDA is running a series of events around the country from September to November 2009. These events are essential for you if you are a manager or lead from a centre or local authority piloting functional skills qualifications this year.
Functional Skills for Adult Learners pilot
Early feedback from participating centres has been positive, and support for Functional Skills qualifications being a suitable replacement for Skills for Life appears to be fairly strong

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) is offering Foundation Learning support to colleges and learning providers delivering Foundation Learning, or those planning its implementation
