Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News Update

You'll see that the QCDA has published an update on functional skills transition arrangements. This includes information on post-16 functional skills funding and on functional skills and Apprenticeships. We also have an update on functional skills accreditation. See the articles below to find out more.

A new resource on the Core Curriculum and Employability Skills is now available on the Excellence Gateway. The resource aims to enable teachers and trainers involved in employability skills development to identify how workplace skills are linked to the underpinning Literacy, Language and Numeracy skills. See below for full details.

Finally, as it's election time, you may like to take a look at the report from the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), which aims to identify the most urgent priorities that need to be tackled by the next government to raise employment and skill levels across the UK.

Updated information on which awarding organisations have been accredited to deliver functional skills at the different levels from September 2010 is now available

Contribute to a national review of adult numeracy
Organisations and individuals are invited to contribute to NIACE's review - Numeracy Counts for Adults: a review of adult numeracy learning in the UK - by submitting policy papers, research and current practice by 5pm on Friday, 7 May 2010
