Welcome to the Skills for Life Network E-News Update
Some points of note in this edition of the e-news update:

If you're working in the Welfare to Work sector, you may be interested in the update on the new Work Programme. This will replace the current back to work schemes, and aims to provide a coherent package of support for people out of work. The Government is inviting expressions of interest from the private, public and voluntary sectors to help deliver this. The article 'A welfare system for the 21st century' contains full details.

Functional Skills Support Programme Development Projects
The Functional Skills Support Programme has funded 27 development projects to drive the ongoing improvement of functional skills delivery. Each project has produced downloadable materials, information and resources that will benefit all kinds of functional skills centres.
MIAP is now the Learning Records Service
Following consultation, MIAP has changed its name to the Learning Records Service. The Learning Records Service provide a completely free service to all areas of secondary and further education plus work-based learning.
National STEM Centre launch
The National STEM Centre, which provides support for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics teachers and lecturers, has launched its National Centre
New application guides for those working with disabled learners
LLUK has published two application guides for those teaching and supporting disabled learners
Young People’s Learning Agency funding documents
The Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) has released two documents: A Guide to Funding Foundation Learning, and Funding Guidance 2010/2011: Funding Regulations. These documents will be of interest to practitioners, leaders and managers involved in managing and delivering YPLA funded provision.
