Mindful Toolkit
The Mindful Toolkit, which includes information cards and task cards, was designed to be used with prisoners with a range of SEND needs, and has a focus on mental well-being.
The materials in the Toolkit were created/gathered and trialled by a goup of prison-based learning support specialists working with prisoners who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in four prisons in the North West of England as part of a Professional Exchange Project, funded by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF). The Professional Exchange is led by PD North.
The Toolkit is designed to be used with prisoners with a range of SEND needs, but it has a focus on mental well-being, as this was an area where the team identified a gap in current support for prisoners. It could also be used with learners in a range of education and training sector contexts. Each task card is mapped to a SEND pathway:
- Communication and interaction
- Learning and cognition
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Sensory and hearing impairments.
